Mexican Domination in Concacaf Champions League Stage

Monterrey beat Toluca meanwhile Cruz Azul crashed Santos Laguna. That was the circumstances of 2010-2011 Concacaf Champions League’s quarterfinals. Monterrey will meet Cruz Azul in the semifinals and therefore the Mexican side would have placed both them in the finals. All four come from Mexico and showed us the domination of the sombrero in this stage.

Recent years, Concacaf Champions League as the highest interclub championship in concacaf zone (North American, central, and Carribean) is always dominated by these teams. This domination is established in 2008. The domination of the Mexican in this stage is understandable if we give an attention for the football situation in Concacaf zone. Mexico either national team or club is the best representation of this zone. We have known that Mexican national team is one of team that all football fans give a respect and of course this national team have a legend stars such as Antonio Carbajal or Hugo Sanchez and currently they have a shining star, Javier “chicarito” Hernandez who are playing in Manchester United.

And the Mexican club is the best representation too in this zone. They come from the best league in Concacaf, Mexican Primera Division. The league by the IFFHS ranked 12 in the world. The atmosphere and professional organization which held by the Mexican makes this league so popular for themselves and be an example for other concacaf nations such as United States which has a MLS.

In Concacaf Champions League a privilege rights is owned by the Mexican. They could be delegated by 4 teams. Besides Mexican, United States has it too. However for the best performance the Mexican always has it. In out of concacaf, they played in South America’s Copa Libertadores as invitee teams. (Many people are considering that the Mexican (national team of club) is the latino’s team which trapped in concacaf). Their performance in the competition which always is a competitor for UEFA Champions League always makes a surprise. One of their clubs, Chivas Guadalajara could reach the final in past year.

And now the domination maybe is still ongoing although in other semifinals there are Real Salt Lake from USA and Deportivo Saprissa from Costarica. One of them maybe could stop this in final but I don’t think so. Well, maybe we are boring but we have to realize too a situation in concacaf zone.
