2005-06 the miracle was happened. The final of UEFA Cup (now Europa League) that season was the eyewitness. Sevilla FC or Sevilla for the popular name reached the final and became the winner. This situation was never imagined by many people before. In that final they defeated the English side, Middlesbrough 4-0. The title was the first European title for the Andalusian and of course the final.
The miracle stayed continuing. After German’s World Cup they had gained the victory in European Super cup. Many people were shocked because the opponent which they defeated was Barcelona, the winner of Champions League and La Liga. Three goals to the Barcelona’s net was felt enough for the Andalusian against the team which has many superstars players such as two times best world player, Ronaldinho, the rising star Lionel Messi and the striker Samuel Eto’o. Since that Sevilla by many people in Spain become a new power to compete in La Liga and UEFA’s competitions.
In the next season they gained back the victory in UEFA Cup. Espanyol, the other Spanish side and was theirs opponent had been defeated by penalty shootout. This title was the second and was the entertaining title because in La Liga they only placed their self in the third place behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. But the situation for many people was the increasing graphic for the Andalusian. However, in European Super Cup they had to confess the aggressively of AC Milan.
What is Sevilla? Maybe many people asking about this until now.
For many people Sevilla maybe only well known as region in Andalusia which had ever been the center of Moslem’s civilization in Spanish Middle age. But in the football area this city has two football clubs, Sevilla FC and Real Betis and both of them always be the rival. If we look from the achievement we cannot deny that Sevilla is better than Betis although in La Liga either Sevilla or Betis were only one time to be a champion.
Sevilla which displayed for the last time in La Liga 1999-2000’s season had turned back again to the Spanish football highest competition in 2001-02’s season. But they were only the club from the middle class like ever before. In 2003-04’s season they had reached the Copa del Rey final after more than 20 years but loss from Real Madrid. In 2004-2005 they finished in 6th and therefore they earned a ticket for the UEFA Cup.
Juande Ramos was the important person for the Andalusian. This coach had brought the club to the UEFA Cup final and European Super Cup twice, one Copa del Rey and of course the 3th place in La Liga and therefore Sevilla becomes the upper class club. Many players were raised then when Juande was the coach such as Frédéric Kanouté, Julien Escudé, Andrés Palop, Javier Saviola, and Fabrizio Miccoli.
When Juande left the Andalusian for receiving the challenge from Tottenham Hotspur, the club performance was going under slowly. They only finished in 5th. In that season one of their players, Antonio Puerta had died after collapsed in the match against Getafe. In the 2008-09’s season they turned back to the 3th. Although in 2009-10’ season they turned down again to 4th they had been success after gained the victory in the Copa del Rey final defeated Atletico Madrid.
